Ground Hog Hike – Sunday, February 2, 2024
1:00 PM to 3:00 PM – Pleasant Valley Picnic Area – South Shore, Moraine State Park
Bundle up and celebrate our Pennsylvania Holiday Rodent! Join us for a fun hike beginning at Pleasant Valley, for a hike approximately two miles (easy to moderate hiking terrain). Fun for the family – hike and learn some animal facts and see the park in winter. Wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather (severe weather automatically cancels event) and bring your own water and trail snacks. The meeting spot is approx. ½ mile straight past the South Shore Park Office, 225 Pleasant Valley Road, 16051 – turn right at the “Non-Motor Launch / All-Season Restroom” sign. Welcome the ground hog, foreteller of Spring!
Winterfest 2025 – Saturday, February 8, 2025

Have you ever explored the countless activities and breathtaking sights the park offers during the heart of winter?
Winterfest is back again in 2025! Visitors can come to this event for free and experience the park during the cold season. Enjoy food, craft vendors, outdoor activities, and so much more. The Owlet Gift Shop will be open for this event with new items in stock from 11-3. Follow Moraine Preservation Fund on Facebook for updates.

Winter Hike at Moraine State Park – Monday, February 17, 2025
1:00 PM to 3:00 PM – 528 Trailhead, Moraine State Park
Take a hike in the crisp winter air, with the option of adding miles to the NCT 100-mile challenge! The North Country Trail winds north with an overlook of Lake Arthur. We will go out and back the trail, about three miles in all. You have the option to turn back anytime to make the hike shorter or go further as you wish. Join us at the North Country Trail 528 trailhead (2490 Prospect Rd, Slippery Rock, PA 16057) a small parking lot on the west side of route 528, about four miles north of the Prospect exit off route 422. Nearest restroom is at the 528 Launch (528 Boat Ramp, PA-528, Slippery Rock, PA 16057). Hikes are open to all ages and may include friendly dogs on leashes. Wear sturdy shoes, dress for the winter weather in the outdoors. Severe or dangerous weather cancels event automatically. Bring your own drink and snacks.
